What the job actually includes
- Finding the moisture source, which is the part that decides whether it comes back
- Containment so spores do not spread to clean parts of the house during removal
- Negative air and filtration inside the work area
- Removal and bagging of affected porous materials
- Cleaning of salvageable surfaces and framing
- Drying the cavity out so the conditions that grew it are gone
- Plumbing repair when the source is a leak, under our C-36 classification
- Rebuild of what was removed, under our B classification
Killing mold is not the same as removing it
Spraying a biocide on a moldy wall kills what it touches and leaves the material in place. Dead mold in wet drywall is still a problem, and the drywall is still wet.
Remediation means the affected material comes out, the cavity gets cleaned and dried, and the water source gets repaired. Then it goes back together.
The moisture source is the whole job
We see the same three causes over and over in Riverside County homes: a slow supply line or drain leak inside a wall, a slab leak under the flooring, and condensation from an air conditioning system that was not draining properly.
Because we are a plumbing company first, we can usually locate and repair the source in the same visit rather than telling you to call somebody else and then come back to us.
Containment protects the rest of the house
Cutting into moldy drywall without containment spreads spores through the rest of the house through the air and the HVAC system. You trade a bathroom problem for a whole-house problem.
Sealing the work area, running negative air and filtering the exhaust keeps the job where it started.

Look before touching
We find where the moisture is coming from and take readings. Cutting first and looking second spreads the problem.

Contain the area
The work area gets sealed off with negative air running, so removal does not push spores into the rest of the house.

Remove and dry
Affected material comes out and gets bagged, surfaces get cleaned, and the cavity gets dried until the readings are right.

Fix the source and rebuild
The leak gets repaired and the wall goes back together. Same company, so the plumbing and the drywall are not two phone calls.

Do I need a mold test?
Sometimes. If you can see it and you know where the water came from, testing often just adds cost. Testing is genuinely useful when you smell mold but cannot find it, when you need documentation for a claim or a real estate transaction, or when someone in the house is having health symptoms and you need to know what you are dealing with. For an independent test, use a third-party industrial hygienist rather than the company doing the removal.
Can I just clean it myself with bleach?
On a small patch of hard, non-porous surface like tile or a tub surround, cleaning it yourself is reasonable. On drywall, wood or insulation it is not, because the growth goes into the material where a surface cleaner cannot reach, and the water causing it is still there.
How long does remediation take?
A contained bathroom or single wall is often two to four days including drying. Larger areas take longer. The rebuild afterward depends on how much came out.
Will insurance cover mold?
It depends heavily on the policy and the cause. Mold that resulted from a sudden covered event, like a burst pipe, is more likely to be covered, often with a dollar cap. Mold from a long-term leak or from maintenance issues is commonly excluded. Check your policy and talk to your adjuster.
Is the mold in my house toxic?
That question usually comes from what people have read online. What matters practically is that indoor mold growth means an active moisture problem and material that needs to come out. If someone in the house is having health symptoms, that is a conversation for your doctor, and testing by an independent hygienist can tell you what species are present.
How do I keep it from coming back?
Fix the water. Mold does not grow on dry material. If a remediation is done without repairing the leak or the drainage or the ventilation that caused it, it will return in the same spot.
